Like I could touch my toes and wake up the next day thinking I pulled a muscle.
I lightly stretched my hamstrings yesterday and today one of them hurts a lot. Not a sore feeling that you get from doing new/more stretches. Actual pain from doing one little stretch.
This happens almost every…
I have super tight hamstrings, and it’s taken years and years of careful stretching to get them to the point that I can stretch aggressively without residual pain. Strengthening exercises will make them tighter, but strength is incredibly important for dancing. Stretch very carefully every day, and over time increase the intensity. Like I said, for me it took years. Take hot Epsom salt baths as often as possible, and if you have a gym membership sitting in the sauna/steam room is great. I did hot yoga for a few months and it helped immensely, but it can be pretty expensive and I don’t really have time to go as often as I’d like. Make sure you’re stretching other parts of your legs as well- tight quads, calves, and hip flexors could be contributing to the stretching pain. Come up with a routine of several different stretches for each muscle group to find the ones that work best for you, and do them regularly. Good luck!!
